They're Getting More Scarce

So I've all but abandoned this blog, shut it. I hope to have a shiny new domain with my own blog hosting by the end of the month. It's my birthday/Halloween gift to myself.

I'm used to the neighborhood. Other than the people being loud and fucking slobs, it's fine. No one messes with us, our cars or the house. They do, however, throw trash all over the neighborhood. I've never seen lazier people.

I quit my old job and found a new gig only 12 miles from my house. I'm paid much more money, have better hours and virtually no stress. I have to wear khaki's 4 days a week (Fridays jeans are OK,) and getting up at 6:15AM sucks, but it's worth it. Plus, I'm back in an academic setting and I love that. I'm still in the computer field though, which is good.

Really that's all for now. I'll post a link to my fancy site once it's finished.

Lots O' Update

A lot of stuff has gone on since my last post. First, the doctors never figured out what's wrong with me, but I'm taking Colestid 2 times a day and am back to work (since July 2nd.) Morgan and I moved to Cleveland a couple days ago; his Dad gave us a house. I'm scared of my new neighborhood, but I'm sure I'll get over that. I've never lived in the city, so I really don't know what to expect, plus it's Cleveland. We're about 10 minutes from the Quaker Steak and Lube in Valley View, so we're not in the ghetto, but I'm scared anyway.

We've had some pet deaths I'd rather not go into right now. This always happens; we're fine for a while then a bunch of our pets die within a week of each other.

Crap, I've run out of steam already. I'm at work and tired of staring at the computer. Our Internet will be active on Saturday as long as Time Warner Cable doesn't jack anything up, so I'll try updating more often.

Colon Explosion

So the colonoscopy is finished. It was such a non-event, with the prep being the worst of it. I managed to ask the doctor if he'd found Jimmy Hoffa up there, and that's all I remember until I was told they were finished and I was in recovery. There's no indications of colon cancer, nor does it appear that I have Crohn's Disease. The doctor put me on Colestid, one tablet twice a day. I plan on being back to work no later than a week from tomorrow (Friday.)

There's the abridged version, I'll update this tomorrow with a more thorough highlight reel.

It's A Colon Explosion!!

The first post here in almost 3 months, and it's about pooping. Ah, such is my life...

I've been off work since May 7th because of two issues. One, I was told I have a hernia. Two, I poop all the time. Seriously, it sucks. So, my primary care doctor told me I was dehydrated and malnourished, so I went on short-term disability. Fast-forward over a month later and I'm finally having a colonoscopy to determine what's causing my poop issue, along with the abdominal pain (the CT Scan was clear, so no hernia apparently.) I was supposed to have the colonoscopy last week, but I wasn't cleaned out enough. So, here's the low-down on what happens when you have a colonoscopy.

For the last week I've not been allowed any foods with nuts or seeds. Not really a big deal, as I'm not a big nuts and/or seeds eating person.

Yesterday, two days before the invasion, I had to drink 2 ounces of Milk of Magnesia after dinner. It wasn't the flavor of the Milk of Magnesia so much as the texture. It had the consistency of snot, and was also gritty. Also, no eating after midnight, so I haven't eaten since 10PM yesterday.

Today, it gets fun. No red or purple liquids, and no real food. I'm allowed broth, bouillon, tea, etc, as long as I can see through it, and it isn't red or purple. Additionally, I get to drink 4 liters of TriLyte, a laxative. It tastes like really weak Orange Kool Aid with an entire container of salt dumped in for good measure. Seriously, it's fucking horrible and I'm going to chase it with Sprite or 7-Up as soon as my Mom gets here with my supplies delivery (Sprite or 7-Up, broth, freezer pops and moist butt wipes.) Seriously, the moist butt wipes are a must!!! My Mom has to get it for me because I can't leave the damned house (shut up.)

I just drank the first cup of the TriLyte stuff, and who knows how long it'll take to work. All I know is the Milk of Magnesia worked in less than 12 hours, so if I ever can't poop, that's what I'll drink first.

Guess I'll watch TV...

Sneezy

Today was a full day of sneezing and cleaning. I managed to clear out a box of stuff that's been sitting in the kitchen since I moved in, washed all of the dishes, cleaned the living room and got all of the clothes sorted for washing and drying. The sneezing is annoying and I hope I'm not getting sick again.

My new car is so great. Seriously, I'm so glad I went with the Beetle instead of the Monte Carlo SS. I have the daisy bra and matching side mirror covers, and a few other styling modifications. I hope to do a few engine tweaks this Spring, but first I want to get the timing belt and serpentine belt changed. The serpentine is $100 including labor, but I'm sure the timing belt is going to be outrageously expensive. I need to double-check with the dealer to see if they changed it prior to selling me the car, but I seriously doubt they did.

Here are two photos of the car. Morgan took them today and yes, the car's filthy right now.

Work is going well, but some recent changes have caused the stress level to rise, especially at night. Hopefully it'll get better because I like the people I work with, and I like the job most of the time.

I should go to bed since it's back to work tomorrow.

I'm Updating!

I figured I'd update on here because I'm not really sure why I stopped using this blog and only updating on MySpace. Anyway...

I've been working as a hardware and software tech support agent since June of last year. I love my job, and since I have to work for a living, it's a good place to be. I missed work today due to shitty weather, and I missed 9 days (including weekends and 2 scheduled vacation days) because of pneumonia last month. Thankfully I had a doctor's excuse and sick time available.

I bought a car at the end of last month, a 2002 VW Beetle Sport. I love my Beetle and it has a 2 year/24,000 mile factory warranty so I don't have to worry about anything (other than tires, brakes and oil changes.) I traded in the Grand Prix when I was told I'd get more for trade than I paid for the car over a year ago. So yeah, it wasn't too difficult of a decision for me to make. Of course, I still have TruckBird and he's getting painted in June.

The baby's doing well, and will be two in April.

Not a whole lot is going on with working so much and sleeping. I go to the Harbor once in a while, and spend plenty of time at Target. We're going to the Cleveland Auto Show on February 23rd for a breakfast reception at the GM display, for our Camaro club. That should be good times.

I moved back to Louisville from North Canton in August. I like where I live and I finally have a basement with my own washer and dryer!

OK, I updated.
